FREE SCHOOLS TENNIS REVIEW

Over the past few months we have been providing 6 different schools accross Islington with FREE tennis coaching. Accross this period we have delivered over 100 hours of FREE tennis to over 500 different young people with each class getting at least 5 weeks of coaching sessions. All of the schools are local to another Tennis for All session. That could be close to our courts in Finsbury Park, or a community session in an estate or commmunity centre, ensuring as much continuity and option to continue playing the sport as possible! As a result, we have seen lots of young people from the schools we have delivered in attending our on court and community sessions! Working with a large group of young people and ensuring they are all able to learn the basics of tennis can be challenging, but receiving these thank you notes from St Lukes Primary School is what makes it all worth while, and shows they have been listening after all! One year 3 student quoted - "I recommend tennis because it is fun and you can do it when you are older!" We hope this young person is able to choose tennis as a sport for life as they say, and as a way to keep active. This can only be done if it is a sport that is kept accessible to them in terms of cost, acces to facilities and a welcoming culture!
