LGBTQ+ Tennis Friendly

This weekend we hosted our very first friendly fixture between two LGBTQ+ inclusive tennis groups, the North London Lob-sters and the South London Smashers!

The event was a great success, with each group bringing a team of 10 for a mix of doubles and singles! It was amazing to have a fun and friendly competition to celebrate LGBTQ+ tennis across London, and meet like minded people with a vision of tennis being a game for everyone!

It was the South London Smashers who were convincing winners, but we will be sure to make it a lot closer next time. We are sure this will be the first of many friendly tournaments for our LGBTQ+ inclusive tennis group, the North London Lobsters. We know how important an inclusive introduction to competition is to retain people within a sport, which is crucial to creating sustainable engagement and life long habits of playing tennis and keeping active!

All contributions from the event went towards the Tennis for All project to help support our LGBTQ+ inclusive offering and all our other community and on-court sessions!
